GreenMobility, the Danish shared electric car service, and the Chinese autonomous driving company WeRide announced on 3 August that they intend to put self-driving cars on Danish roads. The aim is public service in the first half of 2027, with every ride carried out by the GXR, WeRide’s EU-compliant Level 4 vehicle — a car that drives itself, with nobody in the driver’s seat.
The two companies say they are the first to pursue a commercial autonomous deployment in Denmark, subject to approval, and that the project is being developed with the Danish Road Directorate and the Danish Road Traffic Authority. Denmark is WeRide’s sixth European market, after Spain and Slovakia. The notable part is not the technology but the date: the driverless car has moved from demonstration to a booking calendar.
