The Danish label LAKOR has put a deposit on its own clothes. There is DKK 25 on shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, trousers and shorts, and DKK 10 on t-shirts, caps and accessories. When a piece is worn out, it can be handed in at the stores in Aarhus, Aalborg and Copenhagen or through an online return portal, and the customer gets the deposit back as a gift card for the next purchase. LAKOR’s deposit partners redesign the returned items into things like children’s clothing and cushions, extending their life.
Instead of talking about sustainability as a stance, LAKOR turns it into a concrete mechanic the customer can feel in actual money.
