St John Ambulance has launched HEART Pocket, a defibrillator the size of a mobile phone that weighs around 700 grams and slips into a jacket pocket. Despite its size it delivers a shock within seconds and guides the user with step-by-step CPR voice prompts, a metronome and hand-placement cues — support aimed at responders who often arrive first and may be working alone.
A built-in paediatric mode switches between adult and child settings at the press of a button, and a rugged, water-resistant build is made for life outside the wall cabinet. Unveiled in April 2026, it is designed to shave crucial minutes off the response to cardiac arrest by making the equipment easy enough to simply carry.
