A new sense-of-security survey finds Danes more insecure in everyday life than at any point in the 15 years it has been measured. The ‘security score’ sits at its lowest level, level with 2024 and 2025. What stands out is what the insecurity is about: not street crime first of all, but the economy and security policy — wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, jitters over the stock market, and a US president who has cast doubt over alliances.
In other words, insecurity has moved outward — from the local and immediate to the state of the world. When conflicts edge closer to the borders, the global becomes something people carry around with them daily. It is a different kind of insecurity than the one safety campaigns usually answer.
