TUI Cruises Is Selling the Front Row on an All-Inclusive Ship

On Mein Schiff 7, guests can now pay around 15 euros a person to decide where they sit in the theatre. “Showtime Front Row” guarantees a central seat in the first row; “Showtime Plus” buys an unobstructed view somewhere else in the room. Both come with a glass of champagne or a cocktail. Ordinary seats are still free, and the show is still part of a fare sold as all-inclusive.

The arithmetic explains it. The theatre holds around 1,000 people and the ship carries 2,534 guests. Even with two performances, the best evenings do not have room for everyone, and until now the queue outside the door has been the currency. TUI Cruises calls it a trial on one ship that may be extended to the rest of the fleet. What is being sold is not the show, but the seat you watch it from.

So…:

Where do people already queue with you, and what would a better spot be worth to them?
