A Tour Operator’s Own Customers Say Travelling Without a Partner Is Now Normal

On 8 September the Danish operator Tid til ro, which sells yoga, wellness and walking holidays, published a survey of 250 of its own customers. Among the women in a relationship, 75.4 per cent had travelled without their partner in the past twelve months — 54.4 per cent on their own and 49.1 per cent with a friend. For the coming year, 68.4 per cent are considering it again, and 89.5 per cent answer yes or maybe.

The numbers come from the customers of a company that sells exactly those trips, and the operator says so itself: the survey is not representative of women in Denmark. What is worth noting is the framing put around it. The director calls a trip without the partner a normal part of travelling life rather than a verdict on the relationship — and American Express Travel named solo travel one of its four leading trends back in 2024.

So…:

What are your customers already doing that they still feel they have to explain?
