Denmark’s road safety authority, Færdselsstyrelsen, has approved a self-driving system for Danish roads — Tesla’s FSD Supervised, recognised here on the back of a Dutch approval that applies across EU countries willing to accept it. The system can accelerate, brake, steer and change lanes on its own, but the driver keeps full legal responsibility, must watch the traffic and be ready to take over at once. The clearance is preliminary and lapses within six months if the EU Commission rejects it.
What is interesting is how a technological leap arrives as a quiet administrative notice. No launch event — a regulator simply moves the line of what is permitted, and tens of thousands of cars already on the road change behaviour through a software update.
