Region Syddanmark (a region in Denmark) is introducing a new relaxation app, RO (‘calm’ in english) designed to alleviate stress among youth, particularly during the intense exam periods faced by those in secondary education. The app offers practical advice and exercises aimed at promoting calm and preventing long-term stress among users aged 15-20.
The initiative responds to national surveys indicating a decline in mental well-being among young people, with around 20% of those aged 16-24 experiencing significant stress or anxiety. This digital tool provides strategies for breathing, study techniques, sleep improvement, and handling worries—enhanced with videos from peers sharing their stress management experiences.

Developed by Mindhelper.dk, part of the Psychiatric Hospital’s Center for Digital Psychiatry, the app supports the regional development strategy “Together for the Future of Southern Denmark.” This project, funded with 2.3 million DKK (approximately 329,000 US Dollars), aims to reverse negative trends in youth mental health by fostering better coping mechanisms and mental resilience.
