A Pharmacy in Hesse Put a Four-Square-Metre Doctor’s Office in the Shop

Since July, the Brücken-Apotheke in Heringen has had a sound-insulated booth of about four square metres standing in its rooms on Friedrich-Ebert-Platz. A customer scans a QR code, steps inside and sits opposite a general practitioner on a screen; appointments are often free within twenty minutes. Staff have been trained to handle the booking and the technology for anyone who needs a hand. The cabin comes from the Berlin provider Medivise and is the first of its kind in Hesse.

Pharmacist Stefan Göbel came across the concept at a health congress. He points to the fringe hours, when the local practices are shut and he is left with borderline cases: people who need a diagnosis and a prescription, but who would otherwise fill a hospital emergency room or drive a long way to the on-call service.

So…:

Which part of someone else’s service could you house in the rooms you already have?
