Salling Group, Denmark’s largest grocery chain, said on 30 June that the first three of its planned emergency stores now have new, larger back-up power systems. A føtex in Ribe, a Bilka in Vejle and a Netto in Rønne on Bornholm can keep chillers, lighting and till systems running when the mains supply fails, and are meant to trade for at least 48 hours without electricity or an internet connection.
Bornholm lost power across the whole island in early 2026, and the Netto in Rønne is the answer to that. All three hold pilot status until the setup is finished, and the company published the names and addresses of the full list last year: 51 stores, due to be ready by the end of 2027. A supermarket has quietly picked up a second job — staying open when everything else shuts down.
