Denmark Gets Its First Metal Festival Made Just for Kids

HXC Kids bills itself as Denmark’s first metal festival made only for children. This spring it stops in Hillerød on Sunday 24 May, where the venue Klaverfabrikken hosts a short, purpose-built show: doors at 11, two hours of live metal from noon, scaled to kids rather than a late-night crowd. A touring “kids’ bus” is taking the format to at least seven venues around the country in 2026.

The point is not to water metal down but to build a complete experience around it for a young audience — loud, real bands, but inclusive, safe and genuinely fun. It is a neat example of taking something with a hard, adult reputation and designing every detail so children can step inside it on their own terms.

So…:

What well-rounded experiences could you design specifically for children?
