Lyft has launched Lyft Teen, a new service for riders aged 13 to 17, offering families an alternative to car ownership. The initiative reflects shifting mobility patterns and increasing pressure on families.

Parents spend an average of 17 hours per day on work and household responsibilities, while personal time remains limited. Most report feeling constantly “on call.” Daily transportation adds significantly to that burden.

Fewer teens are obtaining driver’s licenses compared to previous generations. Rising insurance costs and vehicle prices are key factors, reshaping how young people think about mobility.
Through the Lyft app, parents can create verified teen profiles, monitor trips in real time, and access full ride details. Each trip includes PIN verification, route monitoring, and live tracking.
So…:
What can you do to give parents peace of mind during transportation and other activities their teens take part in?
