Nike has unveiled Project Amplify, the world’s first powered footwear system for running and walking. Designed with robotics partner Dephy, the system enhances natural lower leg motion through a lightweight motor, drive belt, and rechargeable cuff battery integrated into a carbon-fibre–plated shoe.
Still in testing, it aims to help everyday athletes move faster and farther with less effort, much like e-bikes revolutionized commuting. Nike’s research shows that users feel as if the system becomes part of their body, making uphill runs feel level. Over 400 athletes have tested the technology, completing millions of steps toward a new era of powered movement.
