Startup Resit has launched Altair, a sensor pad that retrofits onto the office chair you already own and reads how you actually sit. It captures posture type, pressure distribution, weight balance and how often you move, and after ten minutes in a poor position it delivers a haptic nudge subtle enough not to break focus. Everything feeds a Sitting Score from 0 to 100, built from movement, time spent slumped and how evenly your weight is spread. It fits most major chair brands — Herman Miller, Steelcase, Haworth, IKEA — and costs $350 in beta, $400 at retail.
The ergonomic chair has long been a status object, carrying an unspoken promise that spending enough on your seat pays off later. Resit flips that logic: the missing piece is not a better chair but data. Posture becomes something measured and scored like everything else.
So…:
What would you redesign if you could see the habits your customers can’t see themselves?
