A Tiny E-Ink Reader Now Snaps Onto the Back of Your iPhone

A tiny e-ink reader called the Xteink now snaps onto the back of an iPhone via MagSafe, like a PopSocket made of calm. The X3 weighs about 58 grams, carries a 3.7- or 4.3-inch E Ink screen, runs for roughly two weeks on a charge and costs around $79; a slimmer X4 is just 5.9mm thick. The pitch, as TechCrunch put it, is that it “could stop you from doomscrolling” — your book is now physically attached to the thing you reach for out of habit.

The clever part is the placement. Instead of asking you to put the phone away, it rides along on the same device and offers a quieter, single-purpose screen the instant you have a spare moment. It makes reading the path of least resistance, right where the temptation to scroll usually wins.

So…:

How could you put a calmer, single-purpose option right where the distraction already lives?
