In the underground Cisternerne at Frederiksberg, Denmark, Marina Abramović presents Seven Deaths, a filmic installation inspired by iconic female opera roles. Across seven sequences, she performs opposite Willem Dafoe, portraying stylised deaths accompanied by Maria Callas’ arias.
Visitors move through the dark space from screen to screen, creating a fragmented yet immersive experience lasting about an hour. The interplay of sound, shadow, and temperature heightens the emotional intensity, making the exhibition both unsettling and captivating. The installation runs until 30 November 2026 and offers a distinct blend of performance, film, and operatic drama.
So…:
What does this exhibition, with its focus on a holistic experience and themes such as love and loss, life and death, identity and fate, make you reflect on about the time we live in?
And what does this mean for what you offer?
