A new analysis from Dansk Erhverv reveals that price, sunshine and nature remain the top priorities for Danes when choosing summer holiday destinations. Twenty-eight percent cite price among their two most important factors, followed by 23 % who value sun and warmth, and 22 % who prioritise nature and landscapes. Cultural experiences come next at 18 %, while only 3 % list environmental or climate considerations as decisive.
Two out of three Danes spent all or part of their summer holidays in Denmark, and 43 % travelled abroad – roughly the same as last year. That equals about 3.2 million adults vacationing domestically and around 2 million taking trips abroad. Despite global unrest, travel habits have stayed stable.
A majority (51 %) say geopolitical tensions such as wars or conflicts had no influence on their travel choices, while only 10 % were highly affected.
Extreme weather also had limited impact – 52 % report that heatwaves or storms did not influence their plans, and just 7 % say it did to a great extent.
Similarly, few felt disturbed by overcrowding: 43 % of domestic travellers and 37 % abroad experienced no issues. Only 2–3 % felt significantly affected. Overall, Danes’ travel behaviour appears resilient. Price, sun and nature dominate their choices, while climate, congestion and unrest play minor roles.
