UN Tourism and AWE Promote Accessibility in Global Travel Sector

UN Tourism and Germany’s AWE have released accessibility guidelines for tourism businesses. Published on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the guide outlines five practical steps:

  • Build internal commitment
  • Understand customer needs
  • Assess current accessibility
  • Plan smart improvements
  • Communicate clearly about access

These actions help firms reach new markets, improve service, and boost reputation and profits. Up to a third of global travellers have specific access needs, making inclusion a business imperative.
