In the Norwegian village of Loen, the “Stigull” ladder stretches 40 meters long, hanging 790 meters above the fjord, creating an illusion of floating in thin air. Opened on May 31, this new addition to Via Ferrata Loen enhances the scenic route to Mount Hoven. The ladder, featuring 120 steps and a 45-degree slope, offers climbers breathtaking views of the fjord landscape. Built by Austrian company HZI, Stigull is part of Route 2, near the Loen Skylift cable car. Connected with a zipline, suspension bridge, and various climbing routes, it provides an adventurous yet accessible experience.

Per Helge Bø, the initiator at Loen Active, highlights the ladder’s relatively low difficulty but impressive airiness, making it feel like floating in mid-air. At the summit, climbers are rewarded with stunning views, a restaurant, and a shop. Bø encourages all adventure seekers to try Stigull for a unique fjord experience. Via Ferrata Loen caters to those with moderate physical fitness, offering guided or independent tours for the experienced.
