Supermarket Lidl has introduced “Bee-rs,” tiny 2cm bottles of inverted sugar syrup designed to help wild bees. Launched for World Bee Day on May 20th, these six-packs aim to empower the public in aiding bee populations, which are declining due to a lack of flora.
A 2023 WWF x Bug Life report states that 40% of UK bee species are experiencing dramatic declines. Lidl will donate £10,000 to The British Bee Charity for their BeeBombs4Schools education program.
Bee-rs, available via a free giveaway, can be used to boost tired bees’ energy. Lidl also collaborates with Gosnells and sells bee-friendly plants.
